WELCOME, ARE YOU HIGH?

InstagramTwitter

Welcome to WNURHI.com a.k.a. WheN yoUR HIgh! Weird name for a site huh? Well I thought it up when I was high, lol! I was thinking of building out a website and adding content to view "when you are high" or something. Since I started growing Cannabis, this is more of a grow journal type of site. I have been growing Cannabis legally (according to SB 420 / PROP 215 & 64) since 2013 primarily outdoors in Southern California and love the process and learning more about this awesome plant. I have a full 2016 grow season posted on Instagram if you want to see start to finish.

I have grown Indica Dominant strains, Sativa Dominant strains, seeds from Europe and Asia, seeds found in a baggy, planted in the ground in soil, planted in raised boxes, planted in smart pots. Tried growing plants untouched and let them go natural, also pruned and lollipopped to go tall, pruned and trained to be a bush. Pruned Bush is the way to go! All my plants (so far) have started from seed, grown organic, used composted soil and compost teas, worm castings, and SUN GROWN!! I still have buds from all of these grows in Mason Jars, sealed air tight, stored in a cool dark place and still are good quality smoke and/or good for edibles even years after harvested.

If you are even semi interested in growing, just pop a seed, throw it in soil, and put it under light. See what happens. It is one of the easiest plants to grow and if you baby it, the results are AMAZING! Growing your own gives you control of the final product and is way less expensive than buying from a Cannabis dispensary. I did the math and I think I had it as low as $8.00 an ounce (after all costs) for one of my grows, can't beat that!

The word "season" used through out this site refers to the outdoor summer grow season which can be started anywhere during Spring "Frost date" (past the last day of possible frost). Frost dates are the day of the year when it is calculated to be 50% likely that the temperature will dip below freezing, resulting in frost on the ground. In spring, we have a ‘last frost date’, and in the fall we have a ‘first frost date’. These dates vary depending on various factors like latitude and longitude, altitude, and weather patterns that change yearly. It is hard to pinpoint an exact date so it is wise to assume that freezing temperatures are possible two weeks before the first frost date and two weeks after the last. In North America, starting usually between March thru July and harvesting sometime between September thru November (depending on the strain).

THAILAND LEGALIZED IT!

Well, it's been a while since I updated this site. I haven't been able to produce a proper grow for sometime now I no longer have a giant backyard in California to grow big Cannabis plants and I get most of my herb from a local dispensary, The Source Dispensary Henderson in Las Vegas. The Source has great product but I miss my pounds of "Sun Grown" that I use to grow (scroll down for more info.)

It's crazy to look back on my past grows and the state of the world with Cannabis. For example, back when I was growing if you were caught in Thailand with Cannabis you would be fined, imprisoned, and deported. Today, it is a legal and thriving business!

Here are a few photos from my trip to Phuket, Thailand in 2022. The top left photo, you can see the pot leaf on the signage, this is one of 1000s of dispensaries. The places I would go to were kind of "pop-up" shops which had jars of Cannabis and it was great Cannabis too! Meaning the strains and the high were just like the top shelf weed in the states. I would usually just pay the bud tenders a little extra and have them roll me joints so I could easily carry them around with me on my trip for easy access. Thank Buddha 🙏 the Thais legalized it! Another reason I 😍 Thailand!

CAMBODIA LOCAL HERB

I was in Siem Reap, Cambodia for the 2016 New Year and stopped by Happy Herb Pizza and grabbed some “Extra Happy” Pizza and also visited with some Tuk-Tuk Drivers who were parked out front of Happy’s selling their little plastic baggies of Cambodia’s local herb.

Happy Herb Pizza and Tuk Tuk Cannabis

The bags were loaded with seeds and I am not sure where these strains came from originally. Happy Herb Pizza is about 18 minutes (6.4 km) from Angkor Wat. I want to imagine that these seeds came from a bud lineage going back to the great Angkor Wat. Looking at the photo below of Angkor Wat on the left with those giant bud cola structures and a Cannabis Bud on the right side from this year's grow at Day 123 (Week 7/8ish of Flower). Looks very similar... Coincidence? Hmmmm?

Cannabis in Smart Pots by WNURHI.COM

So I popped a few of the seeds, started them indoors under a shop light with aquarium bulbs until they were about 6 inches high. Then took them outdoors and planted them in 5 gallon Smart Pots. For water, I had sprinklers on timers daily, once early in the morning (6:00am), once when the sun was no longer overhead (6:00pm), and both for about 20 minutes each watering. Then 2-3 times a week I did a soil drench, about 1-2 gallons of water at the base of each plant.

Here is a photo of a bud at about day 130 (below). Great structure, they look dusted with trichomes. Very healthy plants, no caterpillar damage, or any insects chewing holes in the leaves. I think foilar spraying the leaves with compost tea and Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) helped quite a bit. The smell of the buds are AWESOME! Kind of a sugary sweet, herbaceous, with a hint of gasoline smell. I removed all the males as soon as I saw balls, but check the bud below. This was clearly a female but at Day 130 look at the pods that are forming. I Googled them and figured they were just Calyxes where seeds would have developed but now know that this plant went hermie and these pods had pollen coming out of them and the plant was trying to impregnate itself. So like the original buds where I got the seeds, seeds were created, not the end of the world. Two of my plants were just too loaded with seeds to harvest it was like over night the plant was just LOADED with seeds. As soon as I saw these forming I should of harvested the plant. Lesson Learned!!

Cannabis Plant Day 163 by WNURHI.COM

How cool would it be if these genetics were cultivated back in the days of Angkor Wat? Maybe used in ceremonies, or to talk to Buddha, or just used by ancient people to get high and medicate. In reality, I'm guessing that the low sea level of Cambodia, and the bud structure of these plants that the genetics are a land race Sativa that may have made it's way down from China. But who knows? That's the fun part of this growing experiment.

WI-FI SIGNAL STRONG!

I am not 100% sure what this lone bag seed was? If I had to put my money on it, White Fire OG a.k.a. Wi-Fi OG. This was a second generation seed from a mother plant that was grown outdoors right here by a local neighbor who was predominantly growing Wi-Fi OG. My neighbor gifted or traded me some buds and I found this seed in some buds, put the seed in a wet paper towel, popped it, grew it, and here she is right before harvest.

4 - more training

Check out the training technique I did on this plant. At about 3 nodes high (photo 2)  I bent (pinch, twist, be careful) all branches down to one level. Once branches started growing back in (photo 3), I trained, tied down, and bent all branches to same level which looks like a flat sun catching disc (photo 4). Using this technique, you definitely need to use cages. If the branches don't snap and have a good support, it is going to be a GIANT BUSH come harvest time!

I kept training, but giving time for the plant to heal waiting 2-3 weeks in between training. Here is the result below, one monster bush with all kinds of colas.

White Fire OG, also known as WiFi OG, is a 60% sativa hybrid with uplifting and comfortable cerebrally focused effects. This strain combines the best features of its parent strains: the sour, earthy, diesel aroma of Fire OG and the high resin production of The White that leaves the plants covered in a dusty snowfall of crystals. Many phenotypes of White Fire OG exist, some with dense, barrel-like buds and others with pointed, conic formations. Daytime use of this strain won’t leave the consumer drowsy, making it a good choice for social and creative activities. White Fire OG is often chosen by patients to treat anxiety and depression, cancer, glaucoma, pain, and appetite loss. Growers of White Fire OG can raise their high-yielding plants outdoors or inside with a 65-day flowering period.

BIG EURO SEED GROW (18 PLANTS)

Barney's Farm

I went big in 2014, grew out 18 plants total. All kinds of different genetics and Indicas, Sativas, and hybrids, it was a fun grow! I remember visiting Barney’s Coffeeshop in Amsterdam back in the 1990’s (well I remember being there kinda, all visits to Amsterdam were a little blurry). So when I had the opportunity to get Barney’s seeds I grabbed some, and glad I did. The Pineapple Chunk, Vanilla Kush, and Critical Kush are all great Indica dominant strains. The Green Crack strain from Humboldt Seed Organization was the most popular Sativa in this grow.

Fat Colas!

INDICA DOMINANT STRAINS

Barneys Pineapple Chunk Feminized Great late night smoke, high yield, my favorite Indica in this group. Both plants grew big and produced well.

Barneys Vanilla Kush Feminized Not a huge producer in my grow, but decent. Great late night Indica smoke!

Barneys Critical Kush Feminized Really short plant, small yield. Great late night Indica smoke! Being a 100% Indica it definitely has that pain relief and couch lock.

Delicious Fruity Chronic Juice Feminized BIG FAT COLAS! Good Yield, Great Smoke!

Dinafem White Widow Seeds Feminized Being part of the genetics of the Fruity Chronic Juice, it has very similar grow and effects. BIG FAT COLAS! Good Yield, Great Smoke!

SATIVA DOMINANT STRAINS

Humboldt Seed Organisation Green Crack Feminized Both Green Crack plants exploded, all the way back to the sprouting they were the biggest and fastest growers. Big Yield! If I grow this strain again I will definitely give them a ton of room and top and scrog like crazy. I made cannabutter with this strain and like to put it on Cinnamon Raisin Toast in the morning, great start to the day! This and the Critical Haze are my favorite Sativas in this group.

Dutch Passion Shaman Feminized Although it has a low THC compared to the others, I really enjoy this strain. Great for daytime activities and doesn’t knock you out.

World Of Seeds Strawberry Blue Feminized This was a freebie seed and produced the most buds out of all plants. Good Smoke!

Delicious Cotton Candy Feminized This was a freebie seed and was really easy to trim, the buds were spread out. Good Smoke!

Dinafem Super Critical Haze Feminized Being my first REAL grow I overlooked the info on the Haze plants. Both plants started flowering really late (9/12) and take 12 weeks to finish, some say up to 20 weeks! Haze is known for its extreme psychedelic, almost spacey high. This and the Green Crack are my favorite Sativas in this group.

LATE START BLUE DREAM

Blue Dream Bud by WNURHI.COM

I had no idea how to grow Ganja back in 2013. I was gifted 3 Blue Dream seeds, started them in August, planted outdoors in September, and harvested in October. This was not enough time, but the few buds that developed were very nice.

Blue Dream Bud by WNURHI.COM

Blue Dream Bud

Blue Dream, a sativa-dominant hybrid originating in California, has achieved legendary status among West Coast strains. Crossing a Blueberry indica with the sativa Haze, Blue Dream balances full-body relaxation with gentle cerebral invigoration. Novice and veteran consumers alike enjoy the level effects of Blue Dream, which ease you gently into a calm euphoria. Some Blue Dream phenotypes express a more indica-like look and feel, but the sativa-leaning variety remains most prevalent.

With a sweet berry aroma redolent of its Blueberry parent, Blue Dream delivers swift symptom relief without heavy sedative effects. This makes Blue Dream a popular daytime medicine for patients treating pain, depression, nausea, and other ailments requiring a high THC strain.

HARVESTING

Here is how I always harvested my plants. Cut them and do a quick wet trim, hang them on clothes hangers, and air dry in the bathroom with some fans. When it is time for jars, I do one more dry trim, then pop open the jars once a day until the buds are perfect.
